D’Prince – Worldwide (Official Music Video)
by Phil Chard
The Prince of Mavin Records (see what I did there) just dropped his comeback , Don Jazzy produced single titled Worldwide. The video features scenes from Singapore, Hong Kong, Brazil, The UK and a number of other exotic locations that my passport isn't qualified to identify as D’Prince reminds us that with him “you'll go Worldwide”. Prince reminds of us his skills and versatility as he rides over this uptempo Soca influenced beat effortlessly.
#SubmissionSunday | Maglera Doe Boy – Tetris Brickz (Official Music Video)
by Phil Chard
South African Maglera Doe Boy has dropped the video for a song titled TetrisBrickz. The song is an ode to South Africa Kwaito artist Brickz. The video for the song is could certainly be alot better , but the artist displays an fair amount of skill and talent on this Subs produced song that I found refreshing
Paying homage to the South African Kwaito artist " Brickz" aka " Mabrigado" ,TetrisBrickz brings to life my rendition of his line from the classic he calls " Sweety my baby " where he goes : " Sesihlangana emarenkeni" to his love interest in the Dj Cleo produced classic

#SubmissionSunday | PrimeTheGifted Featuring Raymnd – Pressure (Official Video)
by Phil Chard
South Africa's PrimeTheGidted and Raymnd deliver some impressive and hard flows on the grimy Pressure
Tiko Tshepo Motabatsindi (born October 30, 1992), better known by his stage name PrimeTheGifted, is a South African independent hip hop recording artist from Chiawelo, Soweto, Johannesburg. He is known for his dynamic lyricism and captivating story telling. His freestyles and singles have enjoyed radio airplay and favourable reception from the targeted demographic over the years. On the 30th of October 2013, he released his Debut mixtape The Construct, which on it’s first week of released saw 2000 downloads and received love from his fans, and critics showed their love and appreciate for this artists unique style and approach to storytelling. Since then PrimeThe Gifted later released a 5 track EP titled “For Promotional Use Only” In 2015 Which featured Prime’s signature flow and hard hitting bars along with 4 Music videos which he released every thursday as a thank you to his fans, This gained him some hype and allowed him to perform at the now famous Club “Cantare” in Monte casino which showcases a lot of well-known South African hip hop artists. Cassper Nyovest – Mr Madumane (Big $pendah) [Official Video]
by Phil Chard
If you were paying attention to Cassper Nyovest’s social media lately, particularly his Facebook page you would have noticed that he was posting number of anomalous posts that showed Cassper buying food on bulk, renting out his beloved Kyalami home to prospective Airbnb guests and emphasizing the importance of using all htd ketchup in the bottle
I could tell the posts were sponsored by someone but it wasn't until yesterday that it was revealed that Cassper and his good friend Pearl Thusi had been recruited by the Sanlam Group to be part of their National Savings Month Campaign.
Earlier today Cassper invited a number of media and guests to a private Joburg launch of his single and video Mr Madumane (Big $pendah) a song tied to that campaign where the Maftown rapper speaks about the dangers of conspicuous spending. The video follows that motif as Cassper uses recycled and retro items throughout the video.
In the past few months as Cassper has embarked on his album tour we've seen him evolve his social media and content release strategy , engaging more with fans via live video streams and dropping more “rappity rap” type songs. This shift could possibly be a result of his partnership with Red Flag Marketing.
I'm not a particular fan of brand commissioned songs but if this release at least gets Cassper's fans to rethink their spending habits and save up more then I'm all for it. I'm also all for the brand Cassper is evolving into. It seems the Maftown rapper is understanding how to better navigate his celebratory and music as he plans on filling up Orlando Stadium on the 29th of October.

Part Time Cooks – Keep Cooking (Official Music Video)
by Phil Chard
Despite promoting their latest release 7:30 Part Time Cooks just released a video for Keep Cooking. A song that appeared on their last project Baker's Dozen. Its a very Lo Fi video which holds alot of sentimental value to the group.
This is the last video we were able to shoot with the whole Part Time Cooks team before we had to part ways. The ball was really rolling after our first project was released and then, out of nowhere, our vocalist Joe Rollins was re-assigned and had to move back to America and our DJ, Que, went through some bullshit and abruptly had to leave the country we call home without much notice. Shot by Peter Burns with a go pro and probably a lot of beer
Joh Makini Featuring Chidinma – Perfect Combo (Official Video)
by Phil Chard
Perfect Combo is the collaboration between Tanzania’s Joh Makini and Nigeria’s Chidinma. The song relies heavily on well worn formulas for R&B and Hip Hop with a pinch of Soukous and rock. In the end it's makes for a nice collaboration even if it is predictable. The video was directed by Justin Campos
DJ Sliqe – Mercy Featuring Riky Rick, Kwesta, Reason & Thaiwanda
by Phil Chard
SAMA award winning DJ Slique just dropped the video for his latest release Mercy and this is one of the most impressive set of visuals to come out of South Africa in 2016. (Yes I said it)
The video features impressive animation effects that are seen during Riky's verse in a tight corridor and when Thai delivers his bridge on the graffiti decorated pillars in Newtown Johannesburg.
Another impressive feature of the video is how each rapper has their own set. Riky has the corridor, Reason and his troop of krumping, flashlight wielding men are on an abandoned street, Kwesta uses a massive South African flag as his backdrop and Thai weaves in and out of these scenes as he recites the chorus in faux patios.
For Slique anything after the visuals for iLife would be an improvement but he clearly made a significant effort and went all the way to the other end of the spectrum with these visuals.

Rouge – Sheba Ngwan O’
by Phil Chard
Watching the progress of Rouge’s career has made for interested viewing the talented Pretoria based rapper of Congolese descent has not enjoyed an easy path to success. She started off signed to Rockstar 4000 and when things didn't work out (they rarely do over there, ask Xtatic) she shifted to Farah Fortune’s African Star Communications. It seems that Rouge may have parted ways and she is now going it alone. SHe has hinted that she is now going at it alone as an independent artist without PR in interviews
In her new single titled Sheba Ngwan O’ she hops on a Wichi1080 beat and raps
I'm too put together the haters gossiping can miss meWannabes all trying to diss diss meBut I'm to busy I just got my dealProgression don't ask me no questionsI'll tell you now deceit is my friend in this industry
I wonder which deal she referring to….. What we do know is she is now under David Gresham though the details of that arrangement are not clear as yet. We will try get Rouge in for a follow up interview to discuss everything that has happened since we last spoke.
Saudi – There She Go Featuring A-Reece (Official Video)
by Phil Chard
Ambitiouz Entertainment has made an indelible mark on the South African Hip Hop scene in the last 18 months. Not content with the domination they have been enjoying via their two marquee artists the label has diversified their portfolio with a string of new signings. Two of those acts are the trap rapper Saudi and the young lyricist A-Reece.
The two young talents link up on the song There She Go where they give the 2016 rendition of Have You Seen Her (granted it is somewhat more graphic). The video was directed by Unclescrooch and Ofentse Mwase
Morale – Korobela Featuring Gigi Lamayne & Kwesta (Official Video)

South Africa's Morale linked up with Gigi LaMayne and Kwesta 5 months ago on the slow tempo trap joint Korobela. The Neo Shanty from man just dropped the video for the song that is filled with beautiful women, brand placements and Gigi in an outfit that inspire many a wet dream. Check it out above.

Despite the fact that we are still awaiting his new EP which was supposed to drop last week ( GIVE US THE MUSIC BURNA) Burna Boy is still enjoying a massively productive week as he reconnects with his UK fans and mandem alike. After releasing his new single and passing through Tim Westwood's for a performance Burna has just dropped a video for his single Realest taken off his On A Spaceship album. The mellow song accentuated by guitar licks and synths was produced by Simba Tagz.

FimFim – Ohene (Official Video)
by Phil Chard
Ghanaian FimFim just dropped the video for his new single Ohene. At a time when we are beset with stereotypical videos I appreciate the fact that he attempted to tell a story in this video as he depicts a a tale of a number of men who take part in an annual tournament to seek a highly sought after treasure from a group of bandits. In actuality it's a TDK cassette (remembers those?) but still it is entertaining .

Submission | Intelektu – 1 País Rico 1 Povo Pobre (Offical Video)
by Phil Chard
Angola's Intelektu who we featured here, return with a powerful video for 1 País Rico 1 Povo Pobre - my linited Portugues says that neans "one country for rich people, one country for poor people". In the video Intelektu displays striking images of the poverty and lack of infrastructure in the Southern African nation.
Intelektu describes hs song this way;
This track is an panoramic view of current Political state in Angola, a country that has been under the dictatorship of President José Eduardo dos Santos for 37 Years in Power. This videos reveals issues such as corruption, lack of infrastructures, economic crises, Health care etc. My music always been a main tool for a freedom solution in Angola and African continent. As true fact in Africa alot of so called political leaders the use political power to oppress their own people. and Rap Music has been the voice of young uprising Minds.
