










Sylent Nqo is a Zimbabwean guitarist, composer, singer, songwriter and band-leader who has persistently shaped the concept of music through his eclectic fusion of musical styles/genres from a multitude of ethnic sources. He isn’t only a musician but “he is music” and this is connoted through his unique title “the guitar sangoma.”
Born on the 30th of June 1994, His journey of artistry began as a child after his parents bought his first Guitar and a set of Marimba (xylophone). Sylent has toured several countries across the globe since the age of 15: Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Norway, Sweden, Egypt, Italy and the USA. He has collaborated and shared the stage with some of Africa's most prominent virtuosos such as The Late, Dr Oliver Mtukudzi, The Late Hugh Masekela, Mr Eazi, Dotman, Jah Cure, Davido, Jah Prayzah and Ammara Brown amongst others.
In 2016 he represented Zimbabwe at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood (WCOPA) and was crowned "Senior Solo Instrumental Grand Champion of the World" making him the first Zimbabwean and African to win such an award. His unique and instantly the recognizable sound is legendary.
In 2020 he won “Best Alternative” at the Zimbabwe music awards (ZIMA). He's currently working on multiple projects including an EP with South African Legend, PJ Powers and they've had concerts in Zimbabwe and are preparing to tour.
He collaborated with MMX and the European Union and released a single and video titled “vakuruwe” advocating for the preservation of wildlife, he later released “let him go” which is a single dedicated to the 16 days of activism campaign against GBV. Sylent is also the man on the guitar and co-writing for a lot of hit songs around the country and the continent by several artists
