Jordan MoOzy Connects with Suhn as Tatenda LXA Shines Behind The Boards on ‘Kryptonite'
Jordan MoOzy’s hot streak and this time he’s teamed up with Suhn for “Kryptonite”, ably produced by Tatenda LXA
It’s been quite the year for Jordan MoOzy after the first half of it saw him feature on DJ Supta’s “Your Love” and deliver a much-awaited return to the scene with his multi-faceted Kalahari Coyote EP. The EP’s Lead single off the project, “No Time” has enjoyed an overwhelming response that sees it occupying the number 2 spot on Yarona FM’s Y20Chart. Add to that the balmy “Too Much”, alongside Faraii, which has spawned TikTok dance challenges led by choreographer Johanna Elisabeth and “Aluta Continua” with Frost Legato. The latter song has resonated with its message of striving against all odds and rapidly reached the top of Duma FM’s radio charts.
The second half of the year continues Jordan MoOzy’s hot streak and this time he’s teamed up with Suhn for “Kryptonite”, ably produced by Tatenda LXA. Describing the concept of the song, MoOzy says,
“‘Kryptonite’ is about a big comeback where you have your ops sitting on the edge of their seats shaking in their boots. They don’t know what’s next and all you’re being is badder and better.”
That energy was inspired by the production, which Tatenda LXA crafted with both artists in mind. “The production happened so easily,” Tatenda LXA says. “I was playing around with ideas in the studio trying to find a pocket for both Suhn and Jordan, and ended up going in this direction ‘cause they both loved it.”
The backstory of this link-up of synergies stems from a fruitful musical relationship in the past and an easily forged new one. “I have always known Suhn,” Tatenda LXA continues. “We worked together on a few songs, so he brought Jordan over for a session and from there we just clicked. We made this song the first time I met him!”
With "Kryptonite" sure to lead to more praises from fans and platforms alike, Tatenda LXA is keen on exploring more avenues in terms of sonic direction. “I’m trying to be more intentional with my sound and work,” he says. “I’m also trying to target the international market more as that’s where most of my consumers are. I’m taking it slowly with no rush and establishing relationships as I proceed.” One such relationship that’s bearing fruit is with British band Coldplay who’ve tapped Tatenda LXA as their official DJ, alongside artist Shone Zw on the American leg of the “Music of The Spheres World Tour”. It’s been quite the adventure so far and promises to get even better. “ Touring with Coldplay is the best thing that ever happened to my career,” Tatenda LXA shares. “It’s been a huge boost and truly an amazing blessing. It’s taught me so many things and I’m excited for some I’m still learning.” That’s the exact energy the production of "Kryptonite" represents and both Jordan MoOzy and Suhn perfectly capture that spirit of trying harder, doing better and going further.

Jordan MoOzy and Frost Legato Strive on 'Aluta Continua'
Jordan Moozy Frost Legato Aluta Continua
On "Aluta Continua", Jordan MoOzy joins a familiar collaborator in Frost Legato who returns to the scene with his first single in 4 years. Taken from the phrase "A luta continua, vitória é certa", which translates to “The struggle continues, victory is certain”, the song addresses the road to success, relationships along the way and how to navigate through it all.
Anchored by the blend between Frost Legato’s hip hop lyricism and Jordan MoOzy’s afropop melodies, the two artists add a vibey yet afrocentric slant to a politically-charged statement. Though the song possesses a seeming effortlessness, the title is derived from the slogan used by Mozambican liberation movement FRELIMO’s during the nation's journey towards independence from Portugal. “Victory for me is waking up everyday to pursue your dreams and aspirations, even when it’s challenging,” says Jordan MoOzy. “It’s the ability to be knocked off my horse; get back on and continue to ride all the way to the top!”
With its mission statement turned into a clarion call for making progress, this Buti On The Track production is the perfect motivational cut for pop and rap fans alike, and pays homage to those who embrace their African roots.

Jordan MoOzy and Faraii Share The Vibrant ‘Too Much’
Jordan MoOzy and Faraii Share The Vibrant ‘Too Much’
After the release of his well-received ‘Kalahari Coyote’ EP, the versatile Jordan MoOzy keeps the momentum up through a collaboration with independent Zimbabwean artist Faraii. “Too Much” sees the two join forces for a radiant take on Afropop. Produced by ILELA, this sun-soaked anthem is a celebration of love, femininity, and the awe-inspiring power of women.
“This one's for the women who inspire us just by being,” says Faraii. “‘Too Much’ is playful, but it's built on reverence. The world can be heavy, so we made something that feels light, something that makes you smile, move and feel seen.”
Serving as a breezy soundtrack to counter wintery nights, “Too Much” blends Afro-acoustic guitar, smooth harmonies and melodic rap and folds them into sprightly tropical arrangements. The grooves are both flirtatious and tailor-made care-free dancing, as the dance challenge led by Johanna Elisabeth continues to gain traction. That spirit of a shared appreciation is mirrored on the cover art, which perfectly captures the energy of the swaying in tandem at golden hour.

Jordan MoOzy Releases The Official Video For ‘No Time’
After the release of his De’Grace EP over 3 years ago Jordan MoOzy makes his return to music with Kalahari Coyote EP, out 6th June 2025 on all digital platforms. Containing 3 engaging tracks, the EP draws on 80’s soundscapes and adds to them a cross-cultural twist.
Taken off his brand new ‘Kalahari Coyote’ EP, multifaceted artist Jordan MoOzy drops the visuals for his lead single “No Time”. The uptempo romantic ode is produced by multi award winner, Fella. "No Time" is the perfect marriage of melody and message by the Gen-Z, Afropolitan singer-songwriter.
The official music video - shot by Masian Pictures - captures the bouncyness of "No Time”, a synth pop, R&B and afrobeats fusion that advocates the pursuit of your desires in both love and life. “The song encourages authenticity by urging listeners to own their words and actions,” Jordan MoOzy says. “It’s about taking action and proving one's commitment to their passions and dreams.”
The overarching visual concept utilises chess as a symbol for the game of life, representing Jordan MoOzy as a player making strategic moves. The video follows Jordan navigating the chessboard, making moves, and overcoming obstacles. Blending chess-inspired imagery with real-life scenarios, the artist's determination and resilience is imaginatively showcased. The visuals follow further thematic tropes with the black and white aesthetic connoting vision and focus. "The chess pieces are about decisions made during life's challenges," Jordan MoOzy says. "The gambling scene represents life's uncertainties and taking risks just like the pawn's movement reflects personal growth and progress." This symbolism is further extended in the cast acting as Jordan's support system as he hyperfocuses on his goals.

On Kalahari Coyote, Jordan MoOzy Explores Musicality and Self-Actualisation

After the release of his De’Grace EP over 3 years ago Jordan MoOzy makes his return to music with Kalahari Coyote EP, out 6th June 2025 on all digital platforms. Containing 3 engaging tracks, the EP draws on 80’s soundscapes and adds to them a cross-cultural twist.
With contributions by producers Simba Tagz, Thelordjazz and Fella, MoOzy channels his fluid storytelling abilities to reflect on both contemporary romance and the enduring human spirit. "The Kalahari Coyote is a symbol of resilience and adaptation born from the intersection of cultures and landscapes,” Jordan MoOzy shares. “Inspired by the harsh yet beautiful Kalahari Desert, this fictional creature embodies the spirit of perseverance. As a reflection of my own journey as an immigrant, the Kalahari Coyote represents the struggles and triumphs of finding a home in unfamiliar territories.” On Chivalry, for instance, MoOZy sets out to conquer his destiny by unfurling the unknown, making space for himself through both his writing and strides between afrobeats, hip hop and r&b-infused synth pop.
There’s an afropolitan impulse flowing through the Kalahari Coyote EP with sprinklings its cadences situating it in the current zeitgeist of African sounds. Recorded with a similarly cosmopolitan set of collaborators, the EP retains layers of influence mimicking MoOzy’s upbringing. “The EP stands for embracing one's roots while navigating the complexities of identity and culture,” he says. “It's about finding ways to thrive in environments that may not have been designed for you, and creating a sense of community in the process.” This shines through on a song like No Time, which bouncily advocates for seizing the opportunities life offers. The thematic base of this EP also blends eras, with MoOzy blending familiar continental elements with 70s and 80s aesthetics. That fusion of worlds is a feature of MoOzy’s artistic pedigree, as his versatility has shown with previous cross-genre explorations.
Kalahari Coyote folds that all together, traversing eras, styles and influences while emotively conveying different facets of our being while we strive to find ourselves. The Kalahari Coyote is a testament to the human spirit's capacity for resilience, adaptation, according to Jordan. It’s all about “the pursuit of belonging and the alchemy in having a blast while doing what we love”. This fashion of worldbuilding has its roots in Jordan MoOzy’s aim to portray relatable stories through striking melodies and homegrown rhythms. That sense extends across the entire EP with a palpable feeling of wanting to belong - somewhere, to something or to someone - anchoring these jams created at the intersection of nostalgia and Afrofuturism. This quality imbues Kalahari Coyote with a refreshing essence, reframing what pop music means to an artist leading the way for Gen Zs across Africa who are trying to find their place in the world.

Taken off his recently released Kalahari Coyote EP - out 6th June 2025 on all digital platforms - Jordan MoOzy serves up the bouncy No Time. Produced by Fella, the song sees MoOzy encourage his love interest to take note of the urgency of their situation. The song elegantly serves as both a statement of desire and a clarion call to action.
"No Time explores the importance of stability and harmony in relationships and personal endeavours,” Jordan MoOzy reveals. “It’s about taking action and proving one's commitment to their passions and dreams.” Embodying the theme of striving found on his brand new, era-bending body of work, No Time strikes a balance between the worlds of synth pop, R&B and Afrobeats. Anchored by a throbbing bassline and rhythmic kick drums, the track fuses electronic elements with an Afrocentric knack for proverbs to hypnotic effect.
“The song encourages authenticity,” MoOzy says, “by urging listeners to own their words and actions ("Show me you mean it" and "Rock it baby"). No Time not only serves as the perfect romantic jam, but its infectious grooves are tailor-made for the club as well. “It’s an anthem about living intentionally, being true to oneself, and making the most of life's opportunities.” This duality is present on both the track and MoOzy’s Kalahari Coyote EP, which possesses the same dynamism as the multi-dimensional singer-songwriter.
And the writing stands out with its metaphoric references that simultaneously address the personal and interpersonal. “The song touches on navigating life's challenges ("swimming upstream") and valuing real progress over social media appearances too ("proof is in the pudding, not the screens"). It also cautions against disrupting the flow ("don't rock the boat").”
MoOzy isn’t just coalescing sounds here; he’s marrying melody and messaging with aplomb.

Taken off the prodigious SUPTA’s recently released Makwande EP, the track sees Jordan MoOzy bring his eclectic style to the fore. With this collaboration, an engaging blend of styles occurs, as afrocentric rhythms and infectious percussion meet soulful expression.

Sounds Of The South Releases First Of Its Kind Report on ZA Music Industry
The African Music Business curation collective known as Sounds of The South has compiled and released a first-of-its-kind report which unpacks the total economic impact of the South African Music Industry.
The African Music Business curation collective known as Sounds of The South has compiled and released a first-of-its-kind report which unpacks the total economic impact of the South African Music Industry.
The report is a detailed look at how much revenue was generated by the various organisations within the South African music industry. Speaking to their spokesperson, Sounds OF The South (SOTS) stated that foregrounding such information is critical for an ongoing assessment of how well the music industry is doing as well as looking at what else can be done to improve processes within the industry.
The inaugural report looks to set a standard for a continued discussion on the economics of the industry which should be done annually.
An excerpt from the report detailing South Africa’s Music Industry revenues in 2020
One of the key outcomes of the report is a financial assessment of the licensing activities of collective management organisations (CMOs). These organisations play a crucial role in the functioning of the South African music industry. The work they undertake to monetise the use of music had, until now, never been assessed holistically. The report showcases the real rand value of the licensing activities of CMOs and for the first time ever, quantifies the economic impact of these organisations collectively.
Key Takeaways from the report
The South African music industry was estimated to be worth over R2 Billion Rands at the end of the 2020 financial year.
Traditional (non-streaming) sources of publishing revenue account for 75% of all revenue generated
Despite global collections falling by around 9.9% in 2020, South African CMOs still managed to collectively collect just under R900 million in royalties during the FY 2020 year of assessment.
SOTS hopes that the report leads to more discussions and perhaps more quantitative assessments of the health of the industry. To this end, any questions, points of clarity, additions and corrections are welcome and can be directed to: info@soundsofthesouth.africa
